Title: Praying from the core (Ang Pag-ampo sa Unod)

Do you know that the small lessons we learn in life are mostly about the words we use every day?

(Nakahibalo ka ba nga ang atong ginagmay nga mga panampal nga natun-an nato sa kinabuhi, mas mahitungod sa mga pinulongan nga atong gigamit kada adlaw?)

In one evening, in a forested area in Mindanao, there was a small deer searching for food to survive every day. He searched for wood that he could use for shelter and food every day. However, one day, while he was searching, he saw a ripe fruit hanging on a tree branch.

(Sa usa ka kagabhion, didto sa isang dapit sa mga kakahuyan sa Mindanao, adunay usa ka gagmay nga usa nga naghikap sa iyang kinabuhi. Sa matag kaadlawon, siya nagsige og pangita og kahoy nga iyang mapanggilingan og pagkaon. Apan sa usa ka adlaw, sa iyang panagsa lang nga pagpangita, nakakita siya og usa ka bunga nga kaylap nga nagatambay sa usa ka sanga.)

He raised his hand to God and prayed that he could have the fruit to live longer. However, as he reached for it, something happened. At first, he made a mistake of clinging to the tree leaves, and before he knew it, he rolled down the hill.

(Gipangayo niya ang kamot sa Diyos ug gihangyo nga ihatag kini sa iya aron mabuhi pa og dugay. Apan sa dihang gipas-an niya ang iyang gibati, kana diha-dihang nagrason. Sa pagsugod, naghimo siya og kahimtang nga naghuot sa mga dahon sa sanga, ug sa walay hunong, naligsan sa bungtod.)

Moral lesson: We should not ask for things that we don't really need. When we ask for something, we should be careful in getting our needs and not be greedy in asking for more than what we can handle. And in prayer, the most important things we need, we should manage them in the most appropriate way."

(Moral lesson: Dili atong dapat gipangayo ang mga butang nga wala naton ginagmay. Sa dihang kita naggipangayo, magbinantay kita sa pagkuha sa atong mga kinahanglanon ug dili sa paghimo og mga pangayo nga dili nato makontento. Ug sa pag-ampo, ang kinahanglan nato sa labing unod nga mga butang, mas maayo nga kinahanglan nato nga atimanon sa labing tarung nga paagi.)

Juan and the Mango Tree (Si Juan ug ang Kahoy nga Mangga)

In a certain place, there was a boy named Juan. One day, he saw the fruits growing on the trees in his neighbor's orchard. He spotted a mango tree with unpicked fruits. He asked his parents if he could pick the mangoes from the tree, but his father told him that he couldn't because the tree belonged to their neighbor.

(Sa usa ka dapit, may usa ka bata nga ngalanan si Juan. Usa ka adlaw, nagtan-aw siya sa mga prutas nga nagtanom sa iyang kauban nga kahoyan. Nakakita siya ug usa ka kahoy nga wala pa jud nagpukot og mga prutas. Kini mao ang kahoy nga mangga. Gipangutana niya ang iyang mga ginikanan kung pwede siya og pukol sa mga prutas sa kahoy nga mangga. Apan gisulti sa iyang amahan nga wala kini pwede kay ang kahoy kay sa silingan sa ilang dapit.)

Juan felt sad because he really wanted to eat mangoes. So, without knowing what to do, he prepared two stones and went to the mango tree. When he arrived there, he cut the branches of the tree to make it easier for him to pick the fruit. He hoped to get a lot of fruit, but while picking them slowly, he accidentally cut his fingers. Luckily, the cuts were not serious.

(Nasubo si Juan kay gusto kaayo niya og mangga. Gani, sa dihang wala kahibaw unsay buhaton, nangandam siya og duha ka bato ug nangadto sa kahoy nga mangga. Pag-abot niya didto, gigunitan niya ang mga sanga sa kahoy aron mas dali niya makakuha sa prutas. Niabot siya sa iyang pangandoy nga makakuha og daghang prutas apan sa pagka-hinay-hinay sa iyang pagpukot, gipilasan niya ang iyang mga tudlo. Maayo na lang kay wala kini samot nga pilas.)

When he returned home, he showed his father the fruits he had picked. His father asked him where he had gotten them from. Juan mistakenly answered and his father corrected him by teaching him the importance of respecting other people's property and following the laws and regulations to ensure peace and order in the community.

(Pagbalik niya sa ilang balay, gipakita niya sa iyang amahan ang mga prutas nga iyang gipukot. Pagkakita sa mga prutas nga iyang gipukot, gipangutana siya sa iyang amahan asa niini gikan. Nasayop siya sa pagtubag ug gipakat-on sa iyang amahan ang kamatuoran nga dili niya pwedeng pukton ang mga prutas sa kahoy nga mangga nga gipangutan niya.)

Moral lesson: It is not good to beg, neglect the authorities, or steal things that do not belong to us. We need to respect the property of others and follow the laws and regulations to ensure peace and order in our community.

(Moral lesson: Dili maayo nga manlimos, magpabaya sa mga pangagamhanan, o magpangawat bisan sa mga butang nga makita nato nga wala nato. Kinahanglan natong respetuhon ang propiedad sa uban ug sundon ang mga balaod ug regulasyon aron masiguro ang kahapsay ug kahusay sa atong kumunidad.)

The Slippers of Man (Ang Tsinelas sa Manong)

 

Title: The Slippers of Man (Ang Tsinelas sa Manong)

There was a Man who worked as a watchman at a beach resort in the province of Cebu. He was a simple man with very basic needs in life. He had a pair of slippers that had seen better days, but he still loved them dearly because they were comfortable to wear.

(Adunay usa ka Manong nga nagbantay sa usa ka beach resort sa probinsya sa Sugbo. Usa siya ka tawo nga gamay lang ang kinahanglanon sa kinabuhi. Adunay usa ka tsinelas nga gi-agi-agi na sa panahon, apan gihigugma gihapon niya kay nindot pa kaayo ang kahimtang sa tsinelas.)

One day, a lot of tourists arrived at the resort. The Man remembered that he had not yet been able to buy a new pair of slippers. He was tired and afraid that his boss would catch him not wearing a new pair of slippers. So he came up with a plan to get new slippers.

(Isa ka adlaw, nagdagsa ang mga turista sa resort. Nakahinumdom ang Manong nga wala pa gyud siya makapalit og bag-ong tsinelas. Gikapoyan og dagan ug gikahadlok siya nga masakpan sa iyang amo nga wala siya’y bag-ong tsinelas. Busa, naghimo siya og paagi aron makatagamtam og bag-ong tsinelas.)

He convinced a tourist to swap slippers with him. He sold his old slippers to a beach vendor who lived in the resort. When he received his salary for watching over the resort, he used the money to buy new slippers.

(Nagkombinse siya sa usa ka turista nga moswap niya og iyang tsinelas. Gibaligya niya ang iyang tsinelas sa usa ka tagapamaligya sa beach nga nagpuyo sulod sa resort. Pagkaabot sa sweldo sa iyang pagbantay sa resort, gigamit niya ang kuwarta sa pagpalit og bag-ong tsinelas.)

However, before he could go to the store to buy new slippers, he saw a farmer who had become a victim of a fire that had engulfed his house. The farmer had no shoes to wear to protect himself from the debris and sharp objects lying around. The Man felt sorry for him and prayed that he would have new slippers.

(Apan sa wala pa makaabot ang Manong sa tindahan aron paliton ang bag-ong tsinelas, naa siya’y nakita nga mag-uuma nga nahimong biktima sa sunog nga naglutaw sa iyang panimalay. Wala siya’y naayong kahoy, wala pud siya’y tsinelas nga mahimo niyang gamiton aron malikayan ang mga kayong nagkalat sa lugar. Gibati niya ang kahago sa pag-ampo nga matagaan og bag-ong tsinelas.)

The Man's watch ended, but he still had not been able to buy new slippers. He returned the money he earned from watching the resort to the farmer he had seen in the fire. He bought a new pair of slippers for the farmer to help him avoid the dangers of the debris and find his way back home in the morning light.

(Nahuman na ang panahon sa pagbantay sa resort, apan wala gihapon makaabot ang Manong sa tindahan. Gibalik niya ang sweldo nga gipangita sa iyang pagbantay sa resort sa mag-uuma nga nakita niya sa sunog. Gipalit niya og bag-ong tsinelas ang mag-uuma aron malikayan ang mga kayong sa una ug makahulagway sa iyang kaugalingon sa panimalay nga nalingaw sa kahayag sa bag-ong adlaw.)

Moral Lesson: True kindness and happiness cannot be attained through material things. Eventually, the things we love will disappear, but the things we do for the good of others will last longer and bring light back to our hearts.

(Moral Lesson: Ang tinuod nga pagkabuotan ug kalipay dili mahimo matagamtaman pinaagi sa materyal nga butang. Kadugayanon, ang mga butang nga atong nagahigugmaan mawala, apan ang mga butang nga atong gibuhat alang sa kaayohan sa uban maoy magdugay nga nagapasalig og kahayag nga mobalik sa atong kasingkasing.)

The Importance of Responsibility in a Child (Ang Pagkamatinumanon sa Usa ka Bata)


 Title: The Importance of Responsibility in a Child (Ang Pagkamatinumanon sa Usa ka Bata)

There was a child who had many dreams in life. He wanted to eat a lot, he wanted to stand on his own, and he also wanted to have many friends.

(Naa’y usa ka bata nga adunay daghang mga pangandoy sa kinabuhi. Gusto niya mouna og daghang kaon, gusto niya nga magtindog og kaugalingon, ug gusto pud niya nga makakita og daghang kaibigan.)

But despite his dreams, he didn't show any responsibility. He just wanted to enjoy happiness in health and the world. That is why he believed that he didn't need to make any effort.

(Apan bisan pa man sa iyang mga pangandoy, wala siya nagpakita og pagkamatinumanon. Gusto lang niya nga makatagamtam og kalipay sa kahimsog ug kalibutan. Mao nga sa iyang pagtuo, dili kinahanglan nga motuman og mga paningkamot.)

However, while he was picking fruits in the forest, he saw an animal that needed help. The child saw that a snake had fallen off a cliff. And with his sense of responsibility, he helped the snake fly back up to the cliff.

(Apan samtang nanguha siya og mga bunga sa kakahuyan, nakakita siya og usa ka mananap nga nanginahanglan og tabang. Nakita sa bata nga nahulog ang usa ka ahas sa banglid. Ug sa iyang pagkamatinumanon, gitabangan niya ang ahas nga makalupad sa ibabaw sa banglid.)

After that incident, he found a new opportunity to show his responsibility. And because of this, he gained many friends and made a big change in his life.)

(Human sa maong panghitabo, nakahimo siya og bag-o nga higayon nga mapakita ang iyang pagkamatinumanon. Ug tungod niini, nakatagamtam siya og daghang mga kaibigan ug nakahimo og dakong kausaban sa iyang kinabuhi.)

Moral lesson: Responsibility has a great impact on our lives. Dreams cannot be achieved without responsibility. Helping others can bring significant changes in our lives and show others that we have kindness and goodness in our hearts.

(Moral lesson: Ang pagkamatinumanon dako kaayo og kapuslanan sa kinabuhi. Dili matuman ang mga pangandoy kung walay pagkamatinumanon. Ang pagtabang sa uban makahimo og dako kaayo nga kausaban sa kinabuhi ug makapakita sa uban nga adunay kahinlo ug kabuntagon sa kasingkasing.)

The Fish that Plant (Ang Isdang Nagtanom)

 

Title: The Fish that Plant(Ang Isdang Nagtanom)

There was a fish that planted in their area in the sea. In its quiet place, it had a great desire to live longer and to plant many other things.

(May usa ka isda nga nagtanom sa ilang dapit sa dagat. Sa iyang kahilumtanan, dako kaayo ang iyang pangandoy nga mabuhay og dugay ug makapananom pa og daghan pang mga butang.)

When the things it had planted grew, other fish showed interest in its dream. They started looking for places where they could plant and learned techniques in planting and caring for their crops.
(Sa dihang mitubo na ang mga butang nga gitanom niya, nagpakita og interes ang uban nga mga isda sa iyang gipangandoy. Nagsugod sila og pangita og mga dapit nga pwede nilang tanuman ug nagtuon sa mga teknik sa pagsagol ug pagtanom.)

They all agreed to work together in planting and caring for their crops. When it was time to harvest, everyone was very happy with their produce.

(Nagkahiusa silang tanan aron pagtulungan sa pagpananom ug sa pag-amuma sa mga tanom. Sa dihang nag-abot na ang panahon sa pag-ani, nalipay kaayo ang tanan sa ilang mga produkto.)

The moral of the story shows the importance of effort and unity. No matter how heavy our dreams may be, we can achieve them through hard work and supporting each other.

(Sa moralidad sa istorya, maipakita ang importansiya sa pagpaningkamot ug pagkakaisa. Bisag unsa pa ka kabug-at ang atong mga mga pangandoy, pwede nato kini matuman pinaagi sa pagpaningkamot ug sa pagsuporta sa isa't isa.)
